In the fall of 1990, two young women of Puerto Rican descent wanted to continue a legacy that was first established on March 15, 1989 on the SUNY Albany Campus. These two young women became the chartering members of our Beta Chapter when they pledged in the spring of 1991. Throughout the years, Beta chapter has continued to thrive by attracting women who wanted to be challenged by an organization that stood for the empowerment of women through education, strength and sisterhood.
All Beta chapter women have been very active on campus, often taking additional leadership roles in many non-fraternal organizations on campus despite their already existing commitment to the high standards and legacy set forth by the sisters who came before them. Beta Chapter intimately changes the lives of so many women. How many exactly? We will never know because the perseverance of Beta chapter, its members and its alumnae will never allow a definitive number to limit them.
